We are OPEN on TUESDAYS!

Wilkinson’s have put up a banner opposite a church in central Stafford:  “We are OPEN on SUNDAYS!”  Well, we (like Stafford Trinity) are open most days, and particularly of course

We are OPEN on TUESDAYS!  Recently the Worship Commission reviewed the Tuesday morning service which takes place in the Chapel at 10.0am.

Why is the Tuesday morning service held?  It was instituted during Nichola Jones’s ministry on completion of the Refitment Scheme, and has been maintained under the leadership of Graham Phillips and latterly Norma Sedgwick.  It remains successful, with the numbers in attendance keeping “up”.  There was a time when nursery children attended, and another when some Parklands residents were brought.  It continues to change.  There is now preliminary music and candles are available for lighting.  A quarterly holy communion is held.  It is served by a wide variety of preachers.

Who is it for?  A congregation of up to 30 includes several who are not Sunday folk and people from other churches.

What is appreciated?   - the atmosphere, which is “non-threatening” and family-ar.  Plainly it meets a need (the accessibilitiy of holy communion being appreciated).  The preachers’ and pianists’ rotas work well.

What can be improved?  This splendid opportunity for worship and fellowship (and coffee afterwards and conversation and then lunch if you wish) needs more publicity –
