St John’s Methodist Church is one of the thirteen churches which make up the BROWNHILLS and WILLENHALL Circuit. The Methodist Church began in the 18th Century during what has become known as the Evangelical Revival, largely as a result of the preaching of John Wesley who travelled the length and breadth of the country on horseback, preaching and teaching. Vast numbers of people, many of them disillusioned with life, heard for the first time, the truth of God’s love for them.
John Wesley visited Bloxwich amongst many places in the West Midlands but no Methodist
Society was founded at that time. However there has been a Methodist presence in
Bloxwich for over 200 years. Until 1966 there were three Methodist Churches in
Bloxwich -
St John’s warmly welcomes people of all ages into its family atmosphere of friendship and fellowship. There are activities for children and young people both on Sundays in Junior Church and during the week. We have monthly Communion and frequent ‘All Age’ services. People from a variety of church backgrounds, or none at all, have found a home with us.
We are a church that plays together as well as prays together. Members of the congregation meet not only in fellowship groups to discuss their faith but also to share in a number of social activities.
